Editing Pages
To edit an existing page, go to PartsDiagram Pro → All Pages, find the page you want to change, and click Edit.
Most fields on the Edit Page form are the same as when you created the page. This guide focuses on what’s different and covers the fields that only appear when editing.
Fields
Section titled “Fields”Page title
Section titled “Page title”The name of the page shown to customers. You can rename a page at any time — the URL handle is not automatically updated when you change the title, so existing links won’t break.
Page category type
Section titled “Page category type”The type that classifies this page in your catalog hierarchy (e.g. Make, Model, Year, Engine Type). You can change this if you originally set it incorrectly.
Page handle
Section titled “Page handle”The URL slug for this page. Edit this carefully — changing it will change the page’s URL, which will break any existing links or bookmarks to that page. If you rename a handle, update any navigation menus or internal links that pointed to the old URL.
Page Meta Description
Section titled “Page Meta Description”The description shown in search engine results. Update this if you want to improve how the page appears in Google, or to correct an outdated description.
Page Meta Title
Section titled “Page Meta Title”The title shown in search results. If blank, the Page title is used.
Menu Label
Section titled “Menu Label”The shorter label used for this page in navigation menus. Update this if the page’s role has changed and the current menu label is no longer accurate.
Update Page Banner
Section titled “Update Page Banner”If a banner image has previously been uploaded, this section shows “Current banner uploaded” and a Replace Page Banner button. Click it to swap the existing banner for a new image.
Accepted formats: .jpeg, .jpg, .png. The existing banner remains in place until you upload a replacement and save.
Parent Page
Section titled “Parent Page”The page this page sits under in the hierarchy. You can re-parent a page here if you need to move it to a different branch of your catalog. For example, moving a 2003 year page from under Z4 to under Z8.
Sorting Order
Section titled “Sorting Order”This setting controls the order in which child pages and diagrams are listed on this page when customers browse it.
Available options:
- Ascending (a-z / 0-9) — alphabetical or numerical, lowest first. Good for year pages (2018, 2019, 2020…) or model pages sorted alphabetically.
- Descending (z-a / 9-0) — reverse order. Useful for year pages where you want the newest year shown first.
- Additional sort options may be available depending on your app version.
Preview Sorting Order
Section titled “Preview Sorting Order”Below the Sorting Order dropdown, a live preview table shows Category Name — the list of child pages or diagrams that belong to this page, in the order that will be applied when you save. Use this to confirm the sort looks right before saving.
For example, if this page is BMW Z8 and it has child pages for 2001, 2002, and 2003, the preview lets you see whether they’ll be listed oldest-first or newest-first.
Root page
Section titled “Root page”Check this box to mark this page as the top-level entry point of your catalog. Uncheck it if this page should no longer be the root. Only one page should be marked as root at any time.
Page Content
Section titled “Page Content”The rich-text body of the page. This is a good place to add a short description to help customers understand what they’re browsing.
A useful pattern is to describe what’s available on the page and how to navigate it. For example, a model page might say:
Find above all the BMW models that match your search criteria. Select your model from the list according to color, finish, and country to access the catalogue of original spare parts you need.
You can use bold, italic, links, lists, and images. Keep the content brief — customers are here to find parts, not read long descriptions.
Featured Products
Section titled “Featured Products”Optionally pin products or a collection to this page. Switch between Products and Collections and use the search field to select what to feature.
This is useful when editing a model or year page — you can feature the vehicle itself as a product so customers can buy the machine and browse its parts diagrams from the same place.
Saving
Section titled “Saving”Click Save Page at the bottom of the form. Changes to the title, content, banner, and sorting order take effect immediately on your store.
If you changed the Page handle, double-check that any navigation menus, internal links, and external links pointing to the old URL are updated — the app does not automatically redirect old handles to new ones.
